Summary:
This session will explore mental health stigma within the LGBTQ+ Community and barriers that may exist when accessing healthcare systems. Emphasis will be given to the intersectionality of the LGBTQ+ Community and how this impacts their engagement in health care services, including mental health.
Objectives:
- Explore the barriers and stigma within the larger LGBTQ+ Community in relationship to systems, specifically mental health resources.
- Develop insight into challenges and barriers to address the mental health stigma that exists in the LGBTQ+ Community.
- Summarize how intersectionality plays an integral role in the stigma, mistrust, and skepticism of systems, including mental health.
