ASPIN Receives Navigator Funding
Affiliated Service Providers of Indiana, Inc. (ASPIN) receives funds for 2023 Open Enrollment. Last week, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services CMS awarded $98.9 million in grant funding to help consumers navigate enrollment through the Marketplace, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Navigator organizations during 2022-2023 will focus on outreach to people who identify as racial and ethnic minorities, people in rural communities, the LGBTQ+ community, American Indians and Alaska Natives, refugee and immigrant communities, low-income families, pregnant women and new mothers, people with transportation or language barriers or lacking internet access, veterans, and small business owners.
ASPIN will receive over 1.6 million dollars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to assist Hoosier in finding health coverage through the Marketplace, Medicaid, Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) or the Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) over the 2022-2023 year. ASPIN has served as a Navigator grantee since 2013 and is the only statewide grantee. Over the last ten years, ASPIN’s navigators have reached over 4.3 million Hoosiers through outreach and education, received over 13,800 calls to its call center and held over 47,500 appointments for enrollment assistance.
Navigators play a vital role in helping consumers prepare applications to establish eligibility and enroll in coverage through the Marketplaces and potentially qualify for an insurance affordability program. Navigators operate year-round to increase awareness among the remaining uninsured about the coverage options like Medicaid, HIP and CHIP, helping consumers find affordable coverage that meets their needs, and assisting consumers beyond the enrollment process to ensure they’re equipped with the tools and resources needed to utilize and maintain their health coverage all year.
With the Inflation Reduction Act now signed into law, an estimated 13 million people will continue to save an average of $800 per year on their Marketplace health insurance, continuing the savings consumers received during 2021 and 2022 from the American Rescue Plan.
To schedule an appointment with one of ASPIN’s navigators for enrollment or education, call 1-877-313-7215, text ASPINNAV to 844-675-0617, visit the website www.aspinhealthnavigator.org or email info@aspinhealthnavigator.org. All services provided are free of charge. Navigators are available to meet for appointments in community settings with a mobile office, via Zoom or over the phone and are also available during weekends and evenings, as needed.
Affiliated Service Providers of Indiana, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) not for profit network that operates four major service lines: Third Party Administration, Training and Workforce Development, Health Improvement, and Grants Management.
