Core Community Health Worker Training Private Tuition

Upon completion of the 47+ hour online training, and passing a final examination, each participant will be certified as a Community Health Worker eligible for employment in organizations serving families, the elderly, children and youth including outpatient medical / behavioral providers, hospitals, medical clinics, schools, churches and community centers. The Community Health Worker training is available in English and Spanish.

Workforce Ready Grant

ASPIN Community Health Worker Training Program (ACHWTP)

The ASPIN Community Health Worker Training Program (ACHWTP), a Federal HRSA grant, will expand on our existing CHW Certification Training Programs and apprenticeship, preparing individuals for careers in the areas of both behavioral health and primary care, focusing on chronic health conditions. ACHWTP will recruit, support, and train 93 paraprofessionals per year; 70 of those trainees will be newly certified CHWs. 23 participants will be existing CCHWs seeking professional development and upskilling in additional topics such as health equity and supervisory training. 18 qualified students will continue into the Department of Labor certified CHW apprenticeship program, prioritizing the Hispanic, Latino/a/x, African American/Black, and individuals from underserved minority communities throughout the state. 25% of the CCHW students that participate in the field placements and/or apprenticeship will do so in underserved communities to advance health equity and reduce health disparities. ASPIN Opioid Impacted Family Support Program (AOIFSP)

The ASPIN Opioid Impacted Family Support Program (AOIFSP), a Federal HRSA grant, expands ASPIN’s existing para-professional certificate program for Community Health Workers (CHW) by the addition of an Opioid Impacted Family Support certificate. CCHWs will better understand the specific needs of providing services to children whose parents are impacted by opioid use disorders (OUD) and other substance use disorders (SUD), and their family members who are in guardianship roles. This program includes the Community Health Worker Training, Opioid Basics training, Opioid Impacted Family Support Training, Chronic Care Training, and an optional one year apprenticeship. This program is currently full but is accepting application for its waitlist, 16 scholarships available opening in September 2023.

ASPIN Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Program for Paraprofessionals (BPP)

The ASPIN Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Program for Paraprofessionals (BPP), which is another Federal HRSA grant includes all of the certifications and an optional one-year apprenticeship, which requires a one year commitment. The difference between this and the Opioid Impacted Family Support Program is BPP also focuses on domestic violence in families. This program is currently full but is accepting applications for its waitlist, 21 scholarships available opening in September 2023.

ASPIN's Stop the Stigma Community Health Worker Certification Training

The ASPIN Stop the Stigma program focuses on students who are members of and working directly with BIPOC and Hispanic communities to overcome the stigma of seeking mental health help. This program provides complete funding for the Community Health Worker certification and is available in Spanish and English. 25 scholarships available.
