ASPIN Health Navigator
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded Affiliated Service Providers of Indiana, Inc. an Indiana Navigator Grant. ASPIN will use experienced community health workers dually trained as Federal and State certified Navigators to support enrollment in health care coverage; to facilitate outreach events; provide education to improve health and insurance literacy. Navigators can help enroll in both Marketplace plans and State Health Care options like the Healthy Indiana Plan or the Children’s Health Insurance Plan.
ASPIN Community Health Worker Program (CHW)
The Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction and the Indiana State Department of Health have jointly approved a training and certification process for the Indiana Community Health Worker Program. ASPIN is certified to provide this training online. The CHW is a front line public health worker who is a trusted member of and/or has an unusually close understanding of the community served. This trusting relationship enables the CHW to serve as a liaison/link/intermediary between health/social services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence or service delivery.
ASPIN’s Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Program for Paraprofessionals (BPP)
The ASPIN Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) Program for Paraprofessionals for Community Health Workers (BPP) includes certifications in Community Health Work, Chronic Care, Opioid Basics, and more. This requires a one-year commitment and a paid apprenticeship.
ASPIN Opioid Impacted Family Support Program (AOIFSP)
The ASPIN Opioid Impacted Family Support Program (AOIFSP) will expand ASPIN’s existing para-professional certificate program for Community Health Workers (CHW) by the addition of an Opioid Impacted Family Support certificate. CCHWs will better understand the specific needs of providing services to children whose parents are impacted by opioid use disorders (OUD) and other substance use disorders (SUD), and their family members who are in guardianship roles.
ASPIN’s Community Health Worker Training Program (ACHWTP)
The ASPIN Community Health Worker Training Program (ACHWTP), a Federal HRSA grant, will expand on our existing CHW Certification Training Programs and apprenticeship, preparing individuals for careers in the areas of both behavioral health and primary care, focusing on chronic health conditions. ACHWTP will recruit, support, and train 93 paraprofessionals per year; 70 of those trainees will be newly certified CHWs. 23 participants will be existing CCHWs seeking professional development and upskilling in additional topics such as health equity and supervisory training. 18 qualified students will continue into the Department of Labor certified CHW apprenticeship program, prioritizing the Hispanic, Latino/a/x, African American/Black, and individuals from underserved minority communities throughout the state. 25% of the CCHW students that participate in the field placements and/or apprenticeship will do so in underserved communities to advance health equity and reduce health disparities. ASPIN’s Workforce Innovation Project: Educating & Recruiting Youth in Behavioral Health Careers
ASPIN receives State of Indiana funds for the Behavioral Health Workforce (BHWF) Recruitment and Retention Innovation (R&RI) grant. Through this funding ASPIN will provide Behavioral Health Career Pathway Training for high School aged youth (16-21), educators, school counselors, career advisors, parents, and caregivers across the state of Indiana; Train high school aged youth from traditional and non-traditional learning institutions to become Certified Community Health Workers; and Offer ASPIN’s Department of Labor Registered Community Health Worker Apprenticeship Program after graduation; providing a seamless transition into a Behavioral Health career.
ASPIN Veteran Services
The ASPIN Behavioral Health Network has been serving veterans in rural Indiana for over two decades. On average , the network serves 1,500 veterans and 4,000 veteran family members annually. Clinicians are trained on military culture to better understand veterans and military family members daily lives.
ASPIN Training
The ASPIN Education Network provides innovative solutions to today’s demanding and ever-changing human growth needs. It offers a complete range of cost-effective services including employee enhancement programs and continuing education for professionals. ASPIN is certified to provide continuing education credits through several professional organizations. ASPIN realizes the importance of solutions that fit the true nature of the worker, the workplace, and the goals of the professional.
ASPIN DMHA Mental Health Internship Program
Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA) received funds through the American Relief Plan (ARP) to address Indiana’s workforce shortages. One of the main areas of need identified is a lack of qualified mental health workforce within our state. As such, Indiana is dedicating funds to assist master’s-level and associate-level students from accredited Indiana schools. This program is limited to 150 master’s level students and 10 Ivy Tech students per semester, on a first come first served basis as applications are received each semester. Funding is available for internship/practicum experiences in the spring or fall semesters through 2025.
